The story behind the legend
Once upon a time...
CPT François de Labouchère, born in Saint-Jean-le-Vieux on September 18, 1917, died in aerial combat on September 5, 1942, assigned to the Île-de-France fighter group, No. 340 Free French Squadron, Compagnon de la Libération by decree of January 5, 1943.
"In the hunt, you either come back victorious or you don't".
On September 5, 1942, as if to justify his words, Captain François de Labouchère did not return. He was joining his best friend, Emile Fayolle, his brother-in-arms who had been shot down on August 19 during the Dieppe operation. Fayolle, whom he had met again in London, inspired by the same faith and determination.
