The story behind the legend
Once upon a time...
"L’Oiseau Blanc, the truthful investigation”
by Bernard Decré (Author), Vincent Mongaillard (Author)
On May 8, 1927 at 5:21 a.m., two World War I "aces", Charles Nungesser and François Coli, took off from Le Bourget aboard the “Oiseau Blanc” with the ambition of landing in New York and making the first Atlantic crossing. But the Levasseur PL.8 and its heroes disappeared the next day "somewhere in the North Atlantic". They were never found.
Thanks to a seven-year Sherlock Holmes investigation led by Bernard Decré, the veil is lifted on one of the greatest enigmas of aviation history, revealing in detail where, when, how and why the adventurers' aircraft sank. With conclusions that, eighty-eight years after the fact, intend to shake up the history of the conquest of the sky and revelations on the real reasons why Nungesser and Coli "pioneers of the Atlantic" were deprived of their posthumous glory.
