Once upon a time...
Launched on a bet, the Potez 53, like its engine, were designed in five months to win the Deutsch de la Meurthe Cup 1933; a race of twice 1000 km on a 100 km course traced in the region of Étampes (Essonne). This modern aircraft: re-entry train (operated at the crank), hoods and wing-fuselage fittings very worked, air brake function on the ailerons.
He won the race in the hands of Georges Détré on May 29, 1933. The aircraft travels the 2,000 kilometers in 6 hours 11 minutes and 45 seconds, an average of 322,800 km/h.
