The story behind the legend

Once upon a time...

In 1929, VF-1B was a US Navy squadron newly equipped with the latest Curtiss F8C ‘Helldiver’ fighter-bomber, which it operated from Mitchel Field in New York for the west coast of the United States.

The day was drawing to a close when the alarm sounded at the airfield. The pilots jumped into their planes and raced towards Manhattan, where panic had gripped the city as a giant gorilla took refuge on the tallest building in an attempt to escape the army called in to neutralise it. The squadron of six Curtiss Helldivers descends like a swarm on the beast, which is desperately trying to protect Miss Ann Darrow...

But what is this fictional monster, resembling a giant gorilla, doing on the label of our jacket? We offer you a magnificent brown canvas jacket with a fur collar in the purest 1930s style.

The collar is removable, allowing you to enjoy your jacket all year round.

As a nod to this legendary 1933 film, we recommend pairing your VF1B jacket with the Barnstormer jumpsuit available in the same colour. And rest assured:

‘It wasn't the aeroplanes, it was the beauty who killed the beast.’
