Once upon a time...
A tribute to the mythical F-14 Tomcat, the most Hollywood of the U.S.N.'s embarked aircraft of the 80s.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is a twin-engine airborne fighter with variable wing geometry. Designed to protect the fleet from air attack, it was the first fighter designed in the USA to incorporate the lessons of the Vietnam War. It became world-famous in 1986, thanks to the film Top Gun, starring Tom Cruise.
Entering service in 1974, it served for 28 years on virtually all US Navy aircraft carriers, each of which carried 24 examples of this aircraft.
