The story behind the legend
Once upon a time...
The Grace Spitfire is much more than just an aeroplane; it is a living icon of aviation history and the Second World War. The Supermarine Spitfire, designed by R.J. Mitchell, is famous for its crucial role in the Battle of Britain, where it helped defend British skies against the Axis forces.
The Grace Spitfire, in particular, has a moving and inspiring history. Restored by Nick Grace in the 1980s, this aircraft was returned to its original condition with meticulous attention to detail. After Nick Grace's tragic death, his widow, Carolyn Grace, took the controls, becoming one of the few female Spitfire pilots in the world. Thanks to her dedication, the Grace Spitfire continues to fly, giving current generations the chance to see this magnificent aircraft in action and to remember the sacrifices made for freedom.
The Spitfire is renowned for its speed, manoeuvrability and aerodynamic elegance. Powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, it could reach impressive speeds and manoeuvre with exceptional agility, making it a formidable opponent in aerial combat.
